Every new product we manufacture begins with the same process.
Our New Product Introduction Process is used for all new projects within Instrument Sales & Service. This process will be utilized for The Client to ensure the project timing, quality and budget management are in line with the overall Project Requirements. ISS has a proven track record of working with our clients to bring products to market in a timely/profitable manner as well as provide unique solutions to difficult business issues.
1. Initial Project Review:
- ISS’ cross-functional team, featuring Engineering, Materials Management and Project Management, works with the client to identify all aspects of the opportunity.
- The team establishes time to market, required costs (including tooling), existing suppliers, and specific customer product requirements (product drawing, specifications, Bill of Materials, concepts, etc….).
- Team performs process assessment, supplier assessment and production feasibility review.
2. Internal Project Review:
- Obsolete and long lead item components identified – Alternatives determined – discussed with client.
- All Materials issues are identified – Alternatives determined.
- Product Design Review to simplify and reduce costs while meeting the overall requirements.
- Basic Process Development including all Quality Controls (1st Article, Receiving, In process, Final Acceptance, and Out of Box) are identified, equipment/tooling detailed, and capacity assessment to match project requirements is determined in order to meet both time and cost requirements.
3. Customer bid/quote and corresponding Customer review:
- ISS will submit to the client a specific bid/quote that will include but not be limited to Product/Process Verification and Validation procedures, associated time lines, and costs.
- ISS has found that there are often many alternatives that must be provided to the client in order for the proper choice to be discovered and implemented. An example would be a multistage production that initially uses existing client test equipment, existing tooling and existing component inventory/materials, and then moves on to new tooling, new equipment, and new suppliers.
- Whatever the project, ISS is always acutely aware of each client’s Verification and Validation Requirements for new suppliers, components, product designs and acceptable materials and manufacturing processes.
4. Modification to Bid/Quote = Customer Approval – Project Launch/Management:
ISS can quickly modify preliminary plans to meet Customer Expectations and Requirements.
ISS’ Program Management identifies the major Product Realization Milestones and works with both the client and the Cross Functional Team to ensure success of the program.
Production management and logistics as well as Continuation Engineering ensures that the product continues to meet client expectations and requirements long after initial shipments.
